International Women’s Day is celebrated all around the world on March 8, but does everybody understand the importance of it?

We don’t believe so.

This is why we celebrate International Women’s Month

A month that is dedicated to women's achievements, raises awareness against gender bias and pushes to take action for equality.

This year, we decided to shine light on three of our most inspiring athletes. Each of them had to overcome their own challenges and fight for equality in order to get where they are today.

What is International Women’s Day?

International Women’s Day is a global day dedicated to honoring the achievements of women throughout history and all across the globe. Celebrated every year on March 8, it also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality around the world.

This year’s campaign theme: #BreakTheBias

The theme of International Women’s Day 2022 is #BreakTheBias. Imagine a world where gender equality is the norm. A world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination. A world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated.

At Women’s Best, we gave 3 of our athletes a platform to speak about the gender bias they faced or are still facing in their everyday life. These women have shared with us their own personal experiences and how they fought back.

What our 3 Women’s Best athletes want to tell you

Although each of our three female athletes are very different from each other, they experience the same challenges, face the same criticism and similar obstacles throughout their own professional journeys… because they are women. In their videos, we see them facing challenges and prejudices only women face. Our athletes want you to challenge gender discrimination, they want you to use your voice and fight back – just as they did! #BreakTheBias

And one takeaway that is particularly important for all of you strong women during International Women’s Month: You don’t have to do it all by yourself. It is not only about the challenges that we face every day, but moreover about the celebration of overcoming the challenges together.

Together we can forge women's equality. Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias #WomensBest #StrongerTogether #IWD2022

And always remember: You are special – no matter what other people say.

Women’s Best contribution

On top of using our platform to stand in solidarity with all women, we are also taking this time to show our commitment to this cause by contributing a donation of $30,000USD to the Malala Fund.

A foundation brought to life by the well-known activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai, a fighter for female education, equality, justice and rights. Malala’s story is a clear example of the injustices young women across the globe face, and to us, we believe her advocacy is necessary in achieving what needs to be done and changed despite the challenges this entails.

The Malala Fund invests in the next generation of leaders, they fight to change the status quo, and give young girls a platform to speak. Because education is the most powerful weapon to change the world.
